Sports and Skills Programmes
We organise monthly skills sessions around vocational skills, healthy relationships and positive self care.
Sport is healthy and inclusive. Its also a great way for us to connect and build relationships with young people.
Boxing, football. basketball, whatever it takes. Using Sport alongside mentoring and skills development grows our impact and the potential for change and personal growth.

Turn-Around Mentoring Project
Turn-Around Mentoring Project
Launched in 2025, the Turn-Around Mentoring Project connects trained community volunteers with young people who could benefit from a consistent, positive adult relationship.
With 30+ trained volunteers supporting around 20 young people, the project builds confidence, trust and positive connections through mentoring and shared experiences.
Young people are referred through schools, alternative education providers, youth offending teams and other partner agencies.

Girls Programme
Most of what we do is inclusive and non gender aligned but we also recognise the pressure young females are under today and as we grow we want to make sure there is a specific girls programme to address those specific issues,.
That’s about confidence and self-esteem but also about good relationships and knowing how to deal with attempted coercion or exploitation.
The Power of Showing Up
A mentor's experience of the HoodEx Turn-Around Project
“Young people don't need people who have all the answers. They need trusted adults who are willing to listen, encourage and walk alongside them.”
Over six months, one HoodEx mentor discovered that mentoring isn't about having all the answers. It's about being consistent, building trust and showing up.
One young person attending a young offenders institution will cost £180,000 per annum.
our whole mentoring project for 20-25 young people each year provides 4-5,000 hours of support and costs less than £50,000 - and changes and transforms young lives!
